Took a drawing course (ok first time since jr high art class, that counts); took a bicycle-based holiday; made more scrolls, and better scrolls, than ever before; authorised in fencing; took a ferry to Ireland
2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Don't remember last years; am working on current fitness resolution formed at end of August
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope, but am enjoying other people's baby reports
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year
5. What countries did you visit?
Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Netherlands
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
A down payment on a house
7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Event dates: Raglan 2009 (also my sweetie's birthday), the first two local Coronet tourneys
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
co-stewarding a splendid and successful five day camping event in a Welsh castle
9. What was your biggest failure?
Losing my cool when someone treated my sweetie badly
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
The usual rounds of colds, and an extremely low autumn
11. What was the best thing someone bought you?
Good question: possibly one of the books about manuscripts, chosen by Robert, at my birthday
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
The first prince and princess of Insulae Draconis
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Other than our politicians? Another set of royals
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent. Disposable income on books, travel and fabric
15. What did you get really, really excited about?
Improving my scribing noticeably and finding out that illumination isn't as scary as I thought - it's achieveable

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? not sure - probably sadder, and more worried
b) thinner or fatter? no real change
c) richer or poorer? poorer

Drawing, running, yoga, calling my folks

Watching TV
20. How did/will you spend Christmas?
Very quietly, with my sweetie, which is my favourite way

Anything by David Attenborough; Dowton Abbey was superb; Dr Who

Hate's pretty strong; I've been very angry this year with a selection of folks, but they're the usual suspects

A series by Philip Rickman, featuring an Anglican diocesan exorcist based in Herefordshire; re-reading Patrick O'Brian and still loving them; discovering Lois McMaster Bujold, courtesy of
extemporanea who gives excellent recommendations. I find it hard to pick just one
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
A wonderful performance by a trio of medieval musicians, at St Bartholomew's church in the autumn.
27. What did you want and get?
More experience scribing and creating beautiful things; finished and wore my German 16th c gown
28. What did you want and not get?
Financial security
29. What was your favourite film of this year?
In Bruges. Darkly funny
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Robert and I visited some museums, and ate lunch in Lincoln's Inn fields. A splendid culture-rich day. Since you ask, I'm now in my forties
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Avoiding the emotional crash over event stewarding this year; could have done without it
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Same as always: how casual can I get away with for work, without actually looking like a tourist?

Quiet weekends on the sofa, thickly spread with books and the cat
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Steven Moyer (vampire Bill in True Blood).There's just something about old-fashioned courtly manners and tall, dark and handsome...

Proportional representation (or lack of it), and libel law in the UK

Friends in Ealdormere who I seem to be getting further from...

Some of the lovely overseas folk who attended Raglan come to mind, but they were all equally fun

It's only a game; real life comes first; get over yourself.
