Head down, counting the days til Double Wars
Been lying low, mostly concentrating on getting to and from work, getting as much work as I can focus on done, and finishing projects in time for Double Wars. Head still not fully back into work mode, just trying to get stuff directly in front of me done, so as to be moderately useful. Higher planning faculties are still on hiatus...
I think, think, I'm getting better at estimating what I can reasonably get done before an event; I don't feel stupidly overwhelmed with projects, but still have a full slate of handsewing, and one scroll to finish, tomorrow (blessedly booked off in preparation).
Fortunately, I have enough clothes and accessories that I'll never be naked at events anymore if I don't finish something - I'm just pushed by really, really wanting new kit for special occasions: a new fencing gown, and now (after last weekend) new kit for cut and thrust training at DW.
New additions to the wardrobe
- linen fencing gown (to finish this week)
- linen shirts for wearing under fencing gown - punch tested, two layers of linen are sufficient, hurrah, no more t-shirts required! (except as backup clothes)
- new fencing hood (linen and cotton/silk), very swish
- hopefully finishing another set of wool hose, but I can work on them at DW
Another addition is finally finishing the fringe decor on the bed canopy hangings, so we can camp in our fullest glamour and sophistication within our pavilion, AND get a better night's sleep within the darkened confines of the canopy. We will be seriously swank.
Robert is up to his hips in court planning (which is pretty high, really), and finishing a new gambeson (cue chorus of angels). The old one has served lo these five long years, and is long due its retirement, potentially as a study object of the effects of combat on cloth armour... He's also just gotten some repaired armour bits back, so can step onto the field in fully armoured glory.
