abendgules: (catching snowflakes)

(Ok, when I started, the snowy icon was appropriate...)

I'm thankful for the coming spring. The last few weeks it has felt stubbornly cold and damp in our flat in the evenings, to the point that I'm huddled on the sofa not wanting to move.
But I've seen the increasing light levels in the length of the day - now there's still light outside when I get out of the Tube at 6.15ish, close to my home.
This weekend it felt like a turned corner: could open windows for fresh air, woke up before my alarm in early-morning light. There are daffodils sprouting in the estate yards around us.
The equinox is next weekend, and British summer time doesn't start til Palm Sunday, 2 weeks from now.
Even if I lose sleep to it, I'm going to try to appreciate the early morning sun after months and months of gray.

I agree entirely. We had a dusting of snow yesterday morning and my first thought was Oh no! Not again! My second thought was I've had enough of snow, so you can go away right now! Fortunately it has now all melted, although we could be due more snow any time through until June.

it has been snowing sleeting on and off here all day. While I loved getting a real winter I can safely say I have had enough now.

Without wishing to piss off any listening weather gods ...
All the snow has gone from our front yard, there's only the tiniest patch in the back yard, it's light when I get up in the morning and light when I finish work and this past weekend was our time change, so it will be light even after I'm home now. There are birds singing in the trees, spring smells on the breeze and this morning I heard the unmistakable honking of geese coming back. Dare I say it in the smallest of whispers on this Ides of March ... spring is in the air! Yes, I do know this is Canada and we could still get whumped, but for the past couple of weeks and (if the weather folks are to be believed) for the next couple, it sure looks and feels like spring here! :)

I totally agree! It was great to get home tonight at 6:15 and still have daylight, even if it faded quite quickly, and it was good to drive to work at 7am this morning and it be almost light. We've even got a few daffodils and some mini irises out in the garden, so it finally feels like spring is arriving.
