still under the weather
Jan. 14th, 2013 04:04 pm...though I got up in time to see the snow(!!) in the close. Sometimes I really miss full-on seasons.
Still coughing: seem to have caught a secondary cold while chasing off the primary cough. My abs are aching. You know you're sick when you're sick on your own time, on the weekend, not just during the week.
Wish I could say I was using the time at home constructively, but I seem limited to tasks I can do from the sofa, and even then the lethargy is strong.
Investiture, unfortunately, is looking unlikely for me. There's good reasons to go, but I've spent much of December and this month sick or off work, and as much as I love events they're not restful.
My week was livened by a visit from the lovely C
starmadeshadow, who was passing through Thamesreach. She is much missed by us, and we got caught up on her life and studies in deepest darkest Wisconsin. She sounds like she's found a vocation, that of teaching teachers, which is hugely promising.
I could also finally hand over a pair of socks, intended for her *first* winter in a real winter climate. Happily(?) she'll still be facing several months of winter, and has a chance to make use of them, late though they may be.
Robert hosted a Saturday gaming session last weekend, where great battles were fought and glory obtained, rounded out with a visit to our new local, the Cock tavern. It was packed - encouraging to see it so well enjoyed, but too noisy to actually hear yourself think. I managed one pint and went home.
On Sunday I managed a walk with Robert to the nearest shops for essentials. We usually do a shop by bike to the large Sainsbury's but this is best done with two people's worth of carrying capacity.
My sweetie is full of cleverness, furthering his favourite pursuit of Making Medieval Stuff; hopefully he'll bring it to an event soon, but I don't want to steal his thunder.
