I think the worst is over in London, don't know about other cities. It's still the main topic of conversation, but the change in policing (raw numbers poured in) has broken the rhythm. Don't know what will happen on the weekend.
Robert and I walked down our nearest stretch of Mare Street (though not all the way up to Hackney Central, where a lot kicked off), and found almost all evidence has been swept away very briskly. Score one for the Hackney and City street cleaners.
Some folks were still working on their CashConverters store frontage. The diamond shop's damaged grill was still damaged. Several shops were still boarded, but I couldn't tell if it was pre-or post-looting.
AFAIK, our own little high street was not touched - I think the boarding there was purely precautionary - but it's a ways from the main drags through Hackney.
