Fastidious cat, part 2, edited
Oct. 2nd, 2009 04:28 pmThorough exploring of the flat continues. I booted Madam Harley out of my room twice last night, once waking to find her hopping off my bedside dresser, the second time off the pile of clothes and garb on top of my chest of drawers - about my head height. I have to look at the door latch, which doesn't work right now. A heavy shopping bag full of fabric and tableware braced against it is no match for a cat willing to headbutt a closed door.
Changed litter to 'garden mix' of sand, potting soil and a small amount of cat litter. Still no interest.
Found instead that Madam had carefully widdled into the plastic washbasin propped by the bathtub (used for handwashing delicates) - as serviceable a container as I could have asked her to find. Can't fault her for trying!
Robert is calling the vet today, to see if we can let her out, at least after meals, because we don't want to prolong her misery, or give her ideas about finding creative toilet locations. Her sutures are clean, not red or inflamed, and she's not pulling at them, so hopefully short excursions are permissible.
EDIT: Vet suggests short bouts of Out just before dinner, so we can coax her home with the promise of her next meal. She's quite keen on timely feeds! so it'll likely work.
If I'd had presence of mind to keep a small sample of piddle to baptise the litterbox with , I'd have done so! but truthfully I wanted to reclaim my washbasin. :-)
