Madam NoName is firming up her hold on our house.
Two nights ago, I attached another paper collar (this time with tape!) to Madam at bedtime, and encouraged her out the catflap (held open on the inside w/ a clothespeg, a thoughtful tip from
ormsweird). She figured out that she could nose through the gap on her own, clever puss.
Yesterday morning, Robert found the collar, ripped off, under the dining room table.
So Madam must have returned to the house sometime that night, removed her collar, and then let herself out again - she was waiting outside for Robert when he came back from his morning run. So we think she has this catflap business now sorted out. :-)
Last night we didn't encourage or direct her outside at bedtime - just left her in the living room. She did a test complaint outside the bedroom door, which we ignored, but otherwise left us to sleep (3am hangup phonecall notwithstanding).
Today I printed off 40 notices for the lampposts in our neighbourhood, listing bare minimum details - I'd like any owner to identify her by describing her. I've no idea how many notices are the right number, or how widely to post them, but it's a start. Expecting to spend the evening walking and taping.
Yesterday evening we had a lovely dinner at the nearby Turkish grill, with champagne to start and finish. Very satisfying.
