I was in second year university when Marc Lepine decided he hated women so much he had to shoot as many of them as he could. I had a strong sense of 'there but by the grace of God go I'.
(...except that I don't really think God 'spares' the lucky ones, because it implies that God 'chooses' the unlucky ones. I'm a bit more of a 'God as clockmaker setting the universe in motion' believer rather than an interventionist 'God will answer my prayers if I ask hard enough' believer.)
Anyway, today's disasters have pushed any memorial items off the front page of the CBC site, but all the material is in their archives.
