As for the going out coming back thing, I trained Tulip to want to come back with the promise of cat treats only upon return. Unfortunately at this time of year someone often thinks sticking one's nose out of doors, taking a good whiff of Cold Canadian Winter (tm) and retreating back indoors warrants a treat!
