Sep. 17th, 2012 05:37 pmHave ordered a whack of smellies supplies on Friday, and am looking forward to odiferous packages in the mail.
R. elbow still hurts (makes fencing awkward, also lifting the kettle). Have a MD appt for referral to physio, I hope.
I ran 3 times last week, plus rode my bike to the British Museum, 20 mins each way the most direct (ie car-filled) route. Am trying to raise my running frequency to 5 days a week, including one long slow run on the weekend, but decided 40 mins on the bike counted for this weekend.
Mostly quiet weekend, with books, trip to the British Museum to see the small exhibit about coinage in Shakespeare's time, and his use of coin metaphors. Some very lovely gold coins on display - nobles and angels, in particular, as well as some very fine commemmorative medals from Eliz I's period.
On our way out past the Greek display, I once more spotted the enormous D20 die from 100 BC (honestly, it's size of a my fist) that I'd told Master Paul about years ago! it was Greek, not Roman as I'd thought.
armillary took a picture, which he promised to post in FB.
So clearly D&D is period...now if only you could pin down the gameboard.
Saw
armillary and Sorcha, who look very happy with their whirlwind engagement, and are full of wedding plans for next month. A wedding in Lake Louise, BC in October could be beautiful.
I finished my first Lev Grossman book, recommended by
camele0pard, and am wondering how I feel about it. It's beautifully written, and hints at being inspired by Narnia (a series of books about a group of children who find a new world through the grandfather clock runs through the story). But it's much more realistically dark than anything Harry Potterish. And it's much less laugh-out-loud funny than The Folly series.
Also read 'A street cat named Bob', (YouTube) which I enjoyed. I added it to the list of London books on the T'reach website.
