New Year's Honours for Thamesreach
Jan. 6th, 2009 02:41 pmWell, our shire's members made out like banditoes were greatly honoured by their Majesties at Coronation court.
exmoor_cat and
zmiya_san were given AoAs, and I suspect that scrolls will be forthcoming - stay tuned for a Thamesreach event near you.
Lady
pogbody was the winner of this segment of the Kingdom Art & Sciences competition, blowing everyone away with a breathtaking scroll for Magistra Eufemia Seraphina di Bergamo, a Sigillum Reginae, that I think is based on the Visconti Hours - if it is, then Melisende made a wise choice of model, because it's one of Eufemia's very favourite Italian sources.
And of course, Vitus Polonius was made a knight.
His own knight, Sir Matthew Blackleaf, was his escort and sponsor, and spoke on behalf of the order of chivalry and spoke of his mastery of the arts martial; Mistress Anya spoke for his passion and enthusiasm for the arts; Master George Fitzhume his squire brother spoke for the Order of the Pelican; and Contessa Eufemia spoke for the ladies of the Rose.
All confirmed his worth and named him their equal as a peer.
Meisterin Eleanora girded him with a white belt, that had first belonged to to Sir Gilliam, and had been then given to Sir Brendan. HE Brendan, though not in attendance, now passed it on to Vitus. It's a fitting gift from a Nordmark knight, as Vitus lived and trained in Nordmark for the better part of two years.
HG Sir Sven provided him with short spurs made by his Grace's own hands, suitable for a 13th c Polish knight.
As only a knight can make a knight, Sir Cadogan stood with his Majesty Thorvaldr and put a hand to Thorvaldr's shoulder, so that Thorvaldr could take the sword of state and dub Vitus.
He then received a gold chain from HG Sir Matthew, which Matthew had received in turn from another duke. As a 'ducal' chain, thus, he spoke of a hopeful future for Vitus on the Crown list field.
While many knights have called the Central region of Drachenwald their home, now and in the past, Sir Vitus Polonius is the first knight born and raised in (East) Germany to be elevated to the Order.
Sir Vitus was warmly welcomed by the native German populace attending and by visiting guests alike, and his elevation was a great pleasure to witness.
SO: GO US! Hurrah for Thamesreach! :-)
