a hot shower, mmmmmm...
May. 7th, 2008 02:15 pmLast week the immersion heaters in the boiler tank went on the fritz. We have rock-hard water, and our landlady won't invest a penny in the place, so this is the second time that corrosion has destroyed the heaters.
Our past suggestions of water-softeners, replacement tanks, or combi-boilers have fallen on deaf ears, and now that she's selling, there's not a chance of investment. (Of course, she's decided to sell just as the market is taking a nosedive...)
So for a week we've been boiling the kettle to do dishes, washing clothes in cold, and sponge-bathing in a teacup.
Today the plumber showed up (must be the last native English plumber in London!) and after a couple of false starts, has replaced both immersion heaters and turned the water back on.
There's hope of a hot shower and warm-water clothes washing later today. :-) Can't wait.
